You fear of unknown, failure, and imperfections. All these negative emotions raise deep anxiety in your hearts, pulling you back and stop you from continue making new decisions.
“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.” — H. P. Lovecraft
Understanding the fear that is in your soul is the first and foremost important step to fix your anxiety. When you have to identify your greatest fear that is stopping you from proceeding with your journey, you can now focus on fixing this problem that causes your anxiety.
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the results of a hundred battles.” — Sun Tzu
The greatest enemy in the journey of solving anxiety is your fear. However, if you can face it and try to solve it one step at a time slowly, you could see powerful results.
How to solve anxiety
Facing anxiety is stressful. It could make your life miserable, and you feel lost direction with things that you are doing. You always suspend the actions that you are taking and overthinking other people’s opinions about you.
However, every anxiety that you are facing now could be solved with these steps when you face your inner fear and move on slowly and consistently.
First step: Find the symptoms of anxiety
Identify the symptoms of anxiety should be your first step to learn more about your body. Whenever you try to solve a problem, the first thing that you think of will be the source of the problem.
In this case, you could relate your sources of anxiety with the symptoms that you are facing. Here are the common symptoms that indicate that you are having anxiety.
Feelings of danger, panic, or dread
Nervousness or restlessness
Rapid heart rate and sweating
Trembling or chills
Tiredness or weakness
Difficult to focus
Second step: Face your fear
“We all have anxiety about things. We all have little insecurities, but eventually, you have to face your fears if you want to be successful, and everybody has some fear of failure.” — Nick Saban
Facing your fear is a horrible experience, and I believe no one will like it. However, if you never try to meet it face to face and talk to it, you could never use a kind way to deal with it.
Imagine that your fear is the most terrifying person that you are afraid of in the real world. If you never talk to that person, you will have a hard time finding a chance to be a friend with that person.
When you are ready to face your fear, it means that you dare to deal with it — you are brave, courageous, and ready to take action to fight.
You will be an action taker, a fighter, and a soldier, who is prepared to deal with your fear and run for this marathon of solving your anxiety.
Third step: Take down your perfection
Don’t let perfection be the enemy of good — this is always a saying that should be bear in mind. If you have a feeling about “not good enough”, try to put down your mind and look at the things that you are doing with another perception.
When you are extremely focusing on making your work to be better, you will end up chasing perfection, and thus the “not good enough” mindset will lead you to anxiety.
Having thoughts of continuous improvement and making things better are great to meet the best version of yourself. But at the same time, you should find the balance to put down your perfection of everything that is too overwhelming to you.
Remember, don’t make perfection be part of your anxiety, put it down because it is unnecessary as good could be enough in many cases.
Fourth step: Throw them away
Anxiety is a form of negative emotion, and thus it could affect your happiness and satisfaction in life when it accumulates.
This negative emotion is like rubbish that is stucked in your mind — you need to clean your space by throwing those rubbish away.
You could throw your anxiety away through speaking with another person or just simply write them out. Venting out your anxiety is similar to emptying your room — throwing away the unnecessary and give the space for positivity to come in.
The feeling of anxiety is formed when you are knowing nothing about the things that you are doing — which is the unknown.
You feel helpless, and venting out is a great way to get the support that you need to solve that anxiety.
Fifth step: Do the opposite way
After the above four steps, you understand that your anxiety is from fear. So, you should do the opposite way of your anxiety instead to solve this problem. Therefore, you could try to chill down your soul and relax your mind.
Here is a list of activities that could help you to relax.
Listening to relaxing music
Have a message
Do your passion
Create your space
Sixth step: Rejuvenate your body
When you are in a state of low energy, you will be uncontrolled with your emotions, so you will get anxious more easily. The best way to rejuvenate your body is through exercise and sleep.
After exercising, your body will regain back fresh energy because you breathe in the more fresh air. Exercising helps to deliver oxygen and nutrients to your body tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently and this leads to a boost of your daily energy level.
A good night’s sleep helps you to tackle your stress. When you feel anxiety, you’re less patient and more easily agitated, which can increase stress. Good sleep is useful to let you stay away from any annoyance — less stress, fewer worries, and less anxiety.
Facing anxiety is a normal scenario and you should not feel ashamed to face it.
“It’s okay to talk about mental health issues. It’s okay to admit that you have anxiety. It doesn’t take away from your power. It’s normal.” — Torrey DeVitto
